Dental Porcelain Veneers

A Dental Porcelain veneer is thin layer of porcelain made to fit over the front surface of a tooth. Porcelain Veneers are much like false fingernails that fit over a nails.

Porcelain Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy, and are a common form of cosmetic dentistry.

The layer of percelain is very thin, and is glued onto teeth using a special 'superglue' designed specifically for the purpose. Once bonded, it forms a very strong bond. The benefit of this is that tooth preparation is kept to a minimum. This has increased the popularity of dental porcelain veneers.

Porcelain Veneers improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth (straighten your teeth). They are available in many shades, and can produce a beautiful natural smile or the 'hollywood' bright white smile. It's essential to discuss this step with your dentist to ensure you leave with a beautiful smile.

The Benefits of Dental Porcelain Veneers

  • Porcelain Veneers greatly improve your appearance, hiding imperfections (e.g. chips).
  • The veneer has the further advantage of retaining most of the natural tooth.
  • Porcelain Veneers protect teeth from further damage. For example, acid in foods and drinks or from the stomach can cause your teeth to wear away. The teeth become thin and weak in these situations. Dental porcelain veneers protect them.
  • If the tooth is strong, a Porcelain Veneer is often a better option than a crown for improving a tooth's appearance.
